About the font Windsor

Windsor is a condensed, heavy old-style serif with Cyrillic and Latin, in the family of Victorian display faces. The capitals are tall and narrow with sturdy bracketed serifs, strongly contrasting thick and thin strokes and a slightly quirky, bent feel in letters such as R and S; the lowercase is dense with a modest x-height. The preview shows many symbols as empty boxes, so punctuation is only partly covered.

The flavour is that of nineteenth-century playbills, shop fronts and bookbinding. It is at home in theatre posters, restaurant menus, heritage packaging and headlines for period projects, in short lines of a few words. In long text its heavy, tight texture is tiring, and the gaps in the symbol set matter for anything beyond plain words.
