About the font ZurichCalligraphic Italic

ZurichCalligraphic Italic is a chancery-style italic in the tradition of humanist calligraphy: a narrow, slanted pen-written alphabet with a lively rhythm, swelling strokes, long ascenders, small flourishes on capitals such as the curling ampersand, and some letters that connect. Its proportions and construction echo the well-known Zapf Chancery italic. The sample shows Latin capitals, lowercase, figures and punctuation, and the listing includes Cyrillic and Russian.

The tone is cultured and warm, a good fit for invitations, certificates, diplomas, menus, book covers, wine labels and classical or literary titles. It reads best in mixed case at a comfortable size and in short passages. All-capital lines lose the flowing character, and long text in a calligraphic italic tires the eye, so it is better kept for headings, quotes and ceremonial text.
