About the font Peterburg Bold Italic

Peterburg Bold Italic is a bold italic serif with Cyrillic and Latin, in the manner of classic book italics: the letters lean with a calligraphic slope, with bracketed serifs, a moderate contrast and a broad, sturdy colour. The lowercase is true italic, with flowing, narrow forms, and the figures are lining and clear. The punctuation set is complete.

The name evokes the Russian imperial city, and the design carries a dignified, literary tone that suits book covers, magazine headlines, cultural and historical posters, certificates and emphasis within a text in the same family. For short statements and quotations it reads well; in long passages the strong slant and weight are tiring.
