Oklahoma is a heavy slab-serif in the style of nineteenth-century wood type, with a rough, inky edge that looks pulled from a letterpress proof. The capitals are broad and bold with thick, square-ended serifs, the lowercase is sturdy, and the figures are fat and solid. The preview includes a tiny credit line and a couple of ornamental glyphs among the symbols.
It brings to mind frontier posters, saloon signs, wanted notices and rodeo flyers, which is exactly the Western mood implied by its name. It works for large headings, labels for barbecue and whiskey, western-themed events and rustic packaging. The rough edge is part of the charm at large sizes, but it clogs in small text, so keep it to short lines.
