About the font Cretino

Cretino by Ray Larabie is a gothic-flavoured face with fine, flourished capitals. The letters are drawn in a thin, scratchy line with a doubled or echoed contour, so that each capital looks engraved or inked twice, and the capitals carry hooked, curling swashes that recall blackletter and calligraphic initials. The lowercase is narrow and lightly slanted, figures are small and old-style, and a few symbols appear without any decoration. Latin only.

The delicate, spidery, slightly sinister look suits fantasy and gothic book covers, tattoo-style graphics, band names, wine and craft labels and short titles, at a large size and in a dark colour on a light ground. The hairlines and the echoed lines fade at small sizes, and long text is hard to read.
