Courier New Cyr Bold is the bold Cyrillic-capable version of Courier New, the typewriter-style monospace that descends from Howard Kettler’s Courier, drawn for IBM in the 1950s. Every character takes the same width, the serifs are thin slabs and the strokes are even, so the letters look like the print of a mechanical typewriter. The preview shows Latin letters, figures and the usual symbols.
The mood is bureaucratic, nostalgic and literary: scripts, drafts, receipts, code listings, letters and retro posters. Bold gives the thin Courier strokes a weight that stays readable on screens. Because of the fixed width, narrow letters such as i and l look isolated, and long texts have an uneven rhythm, so it is better for short blocks, columns of numbers and code than for novels.
