About the font Opium

Opium is a distressed serif in the Clarendon and Egyptian manner, with the edges of every letter eaten into by a rough, speckled texture, as if printed from worn wood type on coarse paper. The lowercase is drawn as small capitals, so the text reads in capitals, and the punctuation row shows mostly empty squares. Only Latin letters are listed.

It carries a gritty, vintage feel suited to poster headlines, band names, beer and spirits labels and book covers. The rough texture swallows fine detail, so use it large, with plenty of leading, and not as running text.
