About the font Hursheys

Hursheys is an ultra-condensed, very heavy sans-serif from High-Logic (Erwin Denissen, 1999). The letters are tall with nearly straight sides, packed so tightly that the counters shrink to narrow slits, and the lowercase simply repeats the capitals. A spiral swirl stands among the symbols.

The look is that of a confectionery or packaging logo: chunky, loud and slightly retro, in the Brand fonts category. It suits a short name, a label or a poster headline at large size, where the dense black mass reads at a glance. Long lines tire the eye, and at small sizes the narrow counters clog.
