About the font Ekaterina Velikaya One

Ekaterina Velikaya One is an ornamental copperplate by Alexandra Gophmann with extravagantly large capitals. Each capital starts with sweeping, multiple-line flourishes that curl well above and beside the letter, while the lowercase is tiny, thin and slanted, so the difference in scale is dramatic. Small decorative characters fill some of the symbol positions.

The name is a tribute to Catherine the Great, and the lettering recalls the grand chancery hands and engraved invitations of the age of empresses. It is meant for a single name or a short title in a very large size with lots of room, such as a monogram, a diploma line or a festive invitation, and it is not for regular running text.
