About the font DS Sholom Medium

DS Sholom Medium is a decorative face by Dubina Nikolay in which Latin and Cyrillic letters are drawn in the manner of Hebrew lettering: a broad pen held flat gives thick horizontals and thinner verticals, the opposite of usual contrast, and the shapes are angular and squarish, with small hooks and tapering feet. Capitals and lowercase look alike, and the figures follow the style. A few signs in the preview show small captions or are missing.

The pseudo-Hebrew effect suits Jewish and Middle Eastern themes: delicatessen and restaurant signs, cultural events, book covers and festive greetings, and generally gives an exotic, ancient tone. Because the reversed contrast and unusual forms slow the reading, use it for names and short titles, in large size, and test your words before choosing it.
