About the font Cheap Fire

Cheap Fire is a roman serif in the manner of a classical inscriptional face, but with its edges eaten away, rough and flaky, as if the letters had been scorched or burned at the borders. The capitals are tall and graceful with moderate contrast, the lowercase is bookish, and the digits are old-style-like and slightly irregular. Only Latin is included.

The contrast between a noble classical form and a damaged surface creates a dramatic, ancient and slightly gothic mood. It suits fantasy and historical titles, game and film posters, book covers and tavern or whisky labels at a large size. At small sizes the rough edges blur the letters.
