About the font Bernhard

Bernhard is a heavy, condensed display face with high contrast between thick vertical stems and hairline serifs, in the spirit of fat-face posters of the early twentieth century. The capitals are tall and narrow, the lowercase is compact with a small bowl and a large x-height, and the digits are bold and clear. Many symbols are missing in the preview and appear as empty boxes.

The compressed, dramatic look is made for headlines that need to fill a narrow column, such as newspaper headings, posters, theatre bills and packaging. It is for large sizes and short words only, as the hairlines weaken in small text.
