About the font Ariston Normal

Ariston Normal is an elegant slanted script by A. L. Gophmann in the tradition of formal pen writing. The letters are narrow and lean to the right, the strokes swell and thin like a pointed nib, and the capitals carry gentle loops and long entry strokes. The lowercase is joined in a flowing line and remains easy to follow, with figures that follow the same slant.

The tone is refined but not as extravagant as the most decorated copperplates, so it works for wedding invitations, certificates, menus, restaurant signs, perfume labels and the titles of poems. It needs a generous size and good contrast, and in all capitals it loses its flowing rhythm, so mixed case is better.
