About the font Action Is, Shaded JL

Action Is, Shaded JL is an ornate display face by Jeff Levine and Brad Nelson, in the style of nineteenth-century wood type with a three-dimensional drop shadow. The capitals are fat and wide, with curved inline details, bulbous serifs and shaded edges that make each letter look carved and lifted off the page. The preview shows two capital rows, the figures, and a few symbols, while several punctuation marks appear as empty boxes.

It calls to mind circus posters, vaudeville bills, old advertisements and saloon signs, and gives a festive, vintage character to titles. It works for event posters, menus, labels, invitations, packaging and short headlines at a large size. The ornament and the shadow clog small text, and the lack of lowercase makes it a font for single words and short lines.
