About the font Aachen

Aachen is a heavy, condensed slab-serif display face in the tradition of Aachen Bold, the 1969 Letraset design by Colin Brignall. The letters are tall and tightly spaced, with thick stems, flat wedge-like slab serifs and a very dark texture. The lowercase is nearly as tall as the capitals, the figures are chunky, and the punctuation row in the preview has a few empty boxes. The category list marks it as Cyrillic and Russian.

It carries the loud feeling of 1970s advertising, record sleeves and tabloid headlines. It works for posters, labels, shop signs, retro branding and short headlines where mass and impact matter. Tightly packed heavy letters clog small text, and all caps get dense very quickly, so choose a big size and few words.
