About the font a_AlternaSw

a_AlternaSw is a heavy, condensed grotesque with Latin and Cyrillic, in the manner of early twentieth-century gothic headline faces. The letters are tall and dense, with tight apertures and flat terminals, and the lowercase is only slightly shorter than the capitals. The figures are bold and compact.

It has the loud, practical look of newspaper headlines, sports posters and notice boards. It works for headlines, posters, labels and strong short phrases at a large size, and the condensed shape fits a lot into a narrow space. In text sizes the closed counters clog, and long lines in this weight are tiring.
